Special Correspondent
MUMBAI: The Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) here stayed the suspension of the Director General of Police, Punjab, S.S. Virk, who was accused of corruption.
Mr. Virk, a highly decorated officer of the Indian Police Service belongs to the Maharashtra cadre and was on deputation. The Punjab government had terminated his deputation and sent him back to Maharashtra.
The CAT judge, Jog Singh, stayed the suspension and directed the Maharashtra government to pay Mr. Virk full salary from the date of his return or the day he reported for duty. Mr. Singh ruled that the Maharashtra government was at liberty to appoint him to an appropriate post.
