Double for Selvi

CHENNAI: A. Tamil Selvi bagged the girls’ under-13 and under 16 singles titles in the Tiruvallur District badminton tournament at the Ambattur Badminton Association-Kamalam John Samuel Indoor Stadium here recently.

Other results: Men: (singles): 2. Anandan; (doubles): 1. Aravind / Satish, 2. Manikandan / Senthil Kumar; Boys: U-16 (singles): 1. Aditya Sabha, 2. Jaya Sriram; (doubles): 1. Sammrat / Akilesh, 2. Venkatesh / Jaya Sriram.

U-13 (singles): 1. Kunal, 2. M. Anand Kumar; (doubles): S.L. Diwakar / M. Anand Kumar, 2. Venkatesh / Harith.

U-10 (singles): 1. Ravi Ranjan, 2. Imthiyas Hussan.

Venkatraman-Krishnan pair wins

K.R. Venkatraman and R. Krishnan won the pairs event in the North-South direction in the open bridge tournament, conducted by Alumni Club of Anna University in association with IOB. Guthip Rajasekar and N. Prasanth of IIT finished second, while T.K. Mani and B. Kamakoti was third.

More than 100 participants, including those who had represented India at Bermuda Bowl, China and Pakistan, took part. For a change, the players accepted the ‘zero noise’ concept. Usually heated arguments and endless discussions inside and outside the venue form the feature.

The General Manager of IOB, Ashoke Chatterjee, gave away the prizes.
