Copy of CID report given to Vakapalli women

Special Correspondent

VISAKHAPATNAM: The First Class Judicial Magistrate’s Court, Paderu, on Wednesday handed over a copy of the final report prepared by CID to the advocate of 11 women of Vakapalli village who were allegedly gangraped by Greyhound police constables on August 20 last. The report was given to advocate V.V. Balakrishna, who is representing the 11 women, who did not attend the court on Wednesday.

Case adjourned

The case was adjourned to April 2.

Earlier, the court issued notices to the Vakapalli women saying that the complaint filed by them with the Paderu police against the Greyhound constables was found not to be true according to the CID inquiry and asked them to attend the court to submit their complaints if any.

Following the notices issued to them, the women on March 13 attended the court of First Class Judicial Magistrate at Araku Valley, who is in-charge of the Paderu court and sought copies of the CID report.

Convenor of the Adivasi Ikya Porata Samiti Rama Rao Dora said the CID report would be studied and further course of action would be decided after consulting High Court advocate and president of Human Rights Forum K. Balagopal and others.
