Assembly condoles death of Rajaram
CHENNAI: The budget session of the State Assembly, which met here on Wednesday, adjourned as a mark of respect to former Speaker K. Rajaram, who died in February. Finance Minister K. Anbazhagan will present the budget for 2008-09 on Thursday.
A condolence resolution read out by Speaker R. Avudaiappan said Rajaram was secretary to Periyar and had won the confidence of many leaders, including former Chief Ministers C.N. Annadurai and M.G. Ramachandran, and present Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi.
The Assembly also condoled the death of evangelist D.G.S. Dinakaran and former MLAs J. Hemachandran and A.L. Thangavel. The House took note of their contributions and observed a two- minute silence. — Special Correspondent
