Owners of small units to observe fast on April 10

Special Correspondent

CHENNAI: To seek the State Government’s intervention in arresting the steep rise in raw material prices, owners of small-scale industries and micro-enterprises will observe a one-day hunger strike throughout the State on April 10.

Addressing reporters on Tuesday, Tamil Nadu Small and Tiny Industries Association president A. Shanmugavelayuthan said that to secure the support of the State and Central Governments, the units were weighing several options including lock-out and suspending lifting of raw materials from April 1.

He urged the State to put in place a price adjustment mechanism for small units whenever the raw material cost increased by more than three per cent.
