Thumping win for HPCL

VISAKHAPATNAM: A fine century by Abhishek Singh and a six-wicket haul by left-arm spinner P. Venkatapathi Raju helped HPCL swamp Materials Organisation by 194 runs in the VDCA institutions league here on Monday.

Good batting by Abhishek (115, 13x4, 1x6) and S. Raja Kiran (86, 9x4, 1x6) who put on 145 runs for the first wicket helped HPCL make 252 for nine in 30 overs. Jagadeeswara Rao impressed with a haul of four wickets for MO. Then Venkatapathi Raju ran through the MO side claiming six wickets for 27 runs.

Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation beat Visakhapatnam Dock Labour Board by six wickets in another match.

The scores: HPCL 252 for nine in 30 overs (Abhishek Singh 115, S. Raja Kiran 86, Jagadeeswara Rao four for 25) bt Materials Organisation 58 in 10.5 overs (P. Venkatapathi Raju six for 27); VDLB 104 in 27.5 overs (P. Chandrasekhar four for 31) lost to GVMC 105 for four in 22.3 overs. — Special Correspondent
