KOLKATA: Defending champion Manipur won the 16th senior National women’s football championship, beating Orissa 4-1 in the final at Haldia, near here, on Sunday. This was Manipur’s 14th triumph in 16 editions and 11th in a row. Ng. Bala Devi (17th and 75th minutes), O. Bembem Devi (34th) and M. Bembem Devi (61st) scored for the winner, while Orissa captain Pinky Bompal Magar (35th) pulled one back for the loser. Manipur downed Goa 1-0 riding on Ng. Bala Devi’s strike. Sasmita Mallick scored as Orissa defeated Bengal 1-0 in the semifinals. — Special Correspondent
