CHENNAI: State Bank of India’s established pair of Pradeep John and Mohan retained the title in the National beach volleyball championship at Colva Beach, Goa, recently. Pradeep and Mohan defeated the pair of Sunil and Yusuff of all-India Central Excise and Customs 21-17, 21-12 in the final. This is the fourth National title for the Chennai pair. According to A.J. Martin Sudhakar, Convenor, Beach Volleyball Federation of India, Pradeep and Mohan lost only one match in the tournament, to Andhra Pradesh’s Viswanath and Vikram. Sudhakar said that the Tamil Nadu pair of Ramamurthy and Nixon and Paul Jacob and Manu, the losing semifinalists, would also represent India in the Asian championship in Hyderabad. — Special Correspondent
