Bandh hits life in lower Assam

Kokrajhar: Normal life was hit by a 12-hour Bodoland Territorial Administrative Districts (BTAD) bandh in lower Assam with an indefinite curfew continuing for the third day on Saturday in Chirang district, where five people were killed in police firing on Thursday.

Sources here said that markets, shops, offices, banks and educational institutions remained closed. Robiram Narzary of the Bodoland People’s Progressive Front called the bandh to protest the police firing on an unruly mob opposing the dismantling of a militant NDFB camp at Bengtol in Chirang. — PTI
