Mob attacks panchayat office in Nizamabad

NIZAMABAD: Police resorted to lathicharge and opened four rounds of fire in the air to disperse an unruly mob which tried to assault the police personnel demanding handing over of six murder accused who were put in the gram panchayat office at Yadavaram in Domakonda mandal, on Friday.

Tense situation prevailed in the village till evening. Trouble began when residents of Vaddera Colony came to know that one of their relatives Vaddera Bodas Narsimhulu (28) was allegedly lynched to death by six accused Dundugula Mallaiah, Dundugula Nagaraju, Posampalli Mallaiah, Posampalli Narsimhulu, Janagama Lakshminarsu and Janagama Mallaiah on Thursday night.

Suspecting that the accused sought shelter at the panchayat office under the protection of police, over 200 villagers, a majority of them women, attacked the gram panchayat office demanding that the police hand over the accused.
