VISAKHAPATNAM: Hong Kong-based Fleet Management Ltd. gave away awards to seafarers, who have put in over five years with the company, at an annual get-together and seminar organised by Ebony Ship Management Private Ltd here on Friday. Seafarers turned up in impressive numbers at the event along with their family members. Senior representatives from the company’s Mumbai offices, seagoing staff and senior officers from the maritime industry attended. Best performerGeneral Manager – India Operations Captain Prashant S. Ragnekar said that Fleet Management employed a large number of seafarers from Vizag area. He said that the company has plans to appoint more number of seafarers from AP. The Fleet had bagged many prestigious international awards such as the best performing ship Management Company, safety at sea international award and for its cutting edge IT technology. Training Superintendent Maheswar spoke on “HR Management and PR skills in shipping”. He said that the company with about 190 ships has one of the most diversified fleet in its management. The company has to the capacity to employ all seafarers from Vizag and nearby areas. Head of Operations (Vizag) K.V.S. Syam Sunder said that this was the fifth annual seminar conducted by the company. He felt that get-togethers like these provide opportunity for seafarers to work with professional companies in the global arena.
