Trinamool to tie up with SUCI
Marcus Dam
KOLKATA: The Trinamool Congress leadership announced here on Thursday a tie-up with a Left party — the Socialist Unity Centre of India (SUCI) — for a united movement against the West Bengal government and the Centre’s “anti-people” policies.
The two parties will jointly fight the rural polls in the State likely to be held in May.
‘No anti-Left ideology’
“Though the Trinamool Congress believes in Gandhian principles and ideals it is not, at the same time, against Marxism and the Left ideology,” Ms. Banerjee, party chief, said.
On the alliance with the SUCI, she said that it was a “new political platform to fight the Communist Party of India (Marxist) which has turned pro-capitalist.”
Alliance
The Trinamool Congress- SUCI alliance will be maintaining equidistance from both the Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party, Ms. Banerjee said.
This is critical to his party’s understanding with the Trinamool Congress, the State secretary of the SUCI, Pravash Ghosh, said.
