First win for Aruna

Chennai: Aruna registered its first ever outright win in first division matches, when it defeated Globe Trotters by 124 runs, in the eighth round of the TNCA first division cricket league on Monday.

Off-spinner P. Sakthi scalped five wickets for 39 runs, while S. Anirudha followed-up a good batting performance with bowling figures of four for 47.

At RKM-Viveka, Young Stars registered an eight-wicket over Eagle. Young Stars Off-spinner K. Srinivasan claimed six wickets for 89 runs for match figures of 14 for 182.

Parry’s finished with five points by virtue of a 112-run first innings lead against IOB. N. Raghavendran (89) was involved in a 100-run partnership with S. Prabhu (37) for the ninth wicket for Parry’s and it took the score to 301. IOB’s R. Rakesh returned figures of five for 112.

At SRM, Grand Slam procured five points after Vijay was dismissed for 161 in response to Grand Slam’s first-innings score of 396.

The match between Alwarpet and India Pistons also ended in a draw, with Alwarpet’s first-innings lead of 39 runs earning it five points. India Pistons was dismissed for 300 and was helped to its score by an 86-run partnership for the sixth wicket between Jaffer Asiqueali and C. Suresh.

IOB 189 & 121 for three in 34 overs (A.S.K. Verma 56 not out) drew with Parry’s 301 in 133.4 overs (N. Raghavendran 89, R. Rakesh five for 112). Parry’s: 5. IOB: 2.

Young Stars 406 for nine decl. & 25 for two in eight overs bt. Eagle 238 & 192 in 64.4 overs (Wilkins Victor 52, K. Srinivasan six for 89). Young Stars: 8. Eagle: 0.

Grand Slam 396 & 36 for one in 20 overs drew with Vijay 161 in 75.2 overs. Grand Slam: 5. Vijay: 2.

Aruna 166 & 222 bt Globe Trotters 118 & 146 in 48.4 overs (P. Sakthi five for 39, S. Anirudha four for 47). Aruna: 8. Globe Trotters: 0.

Alwarpet 339 drew with India Pistons 300 in 117.4 overs (Jaffer Asiqueali 62, C. Suresh 60 not out). Alwarpet: 5. India Pistons: 2.
