Sports Hostel (Tirunelveli) wins

Tirunelveli: Sports Hostel, Tirunelveli, and Thanthai Gnanamuthu Hockey Club, Pandavarmangalam, finished winner (9 pts, 3 wins) and runner-up (6 pts, 2 wins) respectively in the four-team Tirunelveli regional league of the SDAT-TNHA Champion Cup hockey league at Tirunelveli on Sunday. Both teams qualified for the inter-regional league.

Gigini scalps five

Gigini’s five for 24 helped Packer Colts Cricket Club defeat Kumari Cricket Club by five wickets in the Canara Bank-Kanyakumari DCA first division league at Nagercoil on Sunday.

The scores: Kumari CC 93 in 20.2 overs (Gigini five for 24) lost to Packer Colts CC 94 for five in 12.2 overs; Vantage CC 228 in 39.5 overs (Richard 40, Ranjith 54) lost to Young CC 230 for five in 31.3 overs (Arul 54, Jegan 48 not out).
