Bombay Ravi to get award

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Bombay Ravi, music director, will receive the G. Devarajan memorial national award, instituted by Swaralaya, here on March 14. The award comprises Rs. 50,000 in cash, a statuette and a citation.

The award will be given away by K.J. Yesudas at a function to be held at the Senate Hall here. P. Suseela, who won the Padmabhooshan award, will be honoured at the function.

Minister for Education and Culture M.A. Baby will inaugurate the award night, which includes a specially choreographed programme by students of the Swati Music College. Songs directed by Devarajan and Bombay Ravi will be the highlight of the programme.

More than 20 singers, including Yesudas, P. Suseela, Bombay Ravi, M. Jayachandran, Sreenivasan, Vijay Yesudas and Manjari, will perform on stage, a press note issued by Swaralaya said.
