Rotary Club corporate challenge

Chennai: The inaugural Rotary Club of Madras-Alchemy corporate golf challenge will take place on March 15, at the Gymkhana Club Golf Course, Guindy. The event is open to corporates based in Chennai.

“The purpose of this event is to create a serious golfing event for corporates.

“We are also looking to use it to raise funds for charitable activities of the Rotary Club of Madras (RCM).

“In addition, we will also designate each year, one charity, to which a portion of the proceeds will be given as a donation from all participants,” said Ravi Katari, Chairman, Fund Raising Committee, RCM, at a press conference on Friday.

Companies can field either single players or teams of two. Organisations having many golfers may field up to three teams each in addition to single players with a ceiling of eight players in all from any one company. Six teams will be permitted from Rotary Clubs of the city.

Around 80 entries have been received so far, with a maximum of 100 entries allowed overall. The entry handicap for men will be 24, and for women, 30. There will be two groups in the individual event (0-9 and 10-18).

Alchemy Capital Management is the title sponsor, while Reddington and Perot Systems are the associate sponsors. The Hindu is the official media partner.

The event will be an annual affair, and will adopt the traditional Merchant and Bankers tournament two-day format from next year. — Sports Reporter
