Karachi: The Pakistani players, aligned with the Indian Cricket League, have put on hold a decision to file a petition against their national cricket board for imposing a ban on them as fresh attempts to broker an out of court settlement were in sight. Sources close to the players said former captains, Inzamam-ul-Haq and Moin Khan, advised a lawyer hired by the players not to file the petition in the Lahore High Court until they give him a green signal. Bright chancesMoin told lawyer Ali Zafar that there were bright chances of reaching an out of court settlement with the Board over the ICL issue so he should wait for a while, a source told PTI. Zafar, son of an eminent jurist, when contacted said he had completed the research work for filing the petition but was waiting for a final yes from the players. “We have done our homework and once they say go ahead we will file the petition,” he said. The PCB has said it will not consider the ICL players for national selection and have also banned them from playing in domestic cricket besides not issuing NOCs to players who have got offers to play in English county cricket this season. Keeping in touchSources said the Board officials had been in touch with the ICL players and some sort of agreement might be worked out between them. Too early“But it is too early to say anything now,” he said. Some 16 Pakistani players are presently in India to play in the ICL’s second tournament from March 9. Most of them including Abdul Razzaq, Rana Naved, Mohammad Sami, Hasan Raza, Imran Nazir, Imran Farhat, Taufiq Umar, Shabbir Ahmed, Naved Latif, Humayun Farhat, Shahid Nazir have been hit by the domestic cricket ban as all of them are employed with departments and organisations and are regulars in the domestic tournaments. — PTI
