Goldman Sachs to partner ISB

Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD: The Goldman Sachs Group, world’s leading investment banking, securities and investment management company, will be providing $100 million over the next five years to help 10,000 women in developing and emerging markets with business and management education.

The Indian School of Business (ISB) will be the India associate to implement this global initiative in India. The initiative will invest in training women as entrepreneurs and managers.

The programme, called ‘10,000 Women’, entails high quality business education through tie-ups with reputed universities in the U.S. (like Wharton, Harvard and Stanford), Europe and top B-Schools in the developing world.

The initial partnerships will support flexible and short-term programmes and the participants, who could not have formal business education, will be given certificates. There will also be a select number of MBA and BA degrees conferred. The certificate programmes ranging from 5-6 weeks to six months will include courses in marketing, accounting, market research, writing a business plan, strategic planning, accessing capital and e-commerce.

Goldman Sachs will announce, in the coming months, an additional 10,000 Women programme partnerships that will provide more business and management education for disadvantaged women in the U.S.
