Mormugao retains title

VISAKHAPATNAM: Mormugao retained the title beating Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust by 87 runs in the final of 28th all-India major ports cricket tournament at the Port stadium here on Thursday.

Robin D’Souza’s splendid all-round show, a five-wicket haul that followed a quick unbeaten 54 (34b, 4x4, 2x6) was the highlight of the match and earned him the Man-of-the-Match award.

The scores: Mormugao 293 for five in 45 overs (Advait Katkar 80, Robin D’Souza 54 n.o., Dheeraj Narvekar 48, Sanjay Dabolkar 47) bt JNPT 206 for nine in 45 overs (Mahesh Gharat 49, Mahesh Thakur 43, Robin D’Souza five for 48). — Special Correspondent
