KOCHI: The presence of Sri Lankan woman sprinter Jani Chathurangini whose exoneration in a doping violation case had been appealed by the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) did raise a few eyebrows here. Eligible to take partSince Chathurangini, who tested positive at the South Asian Games in Colombo in 2006, is not under provisional suspension, she would be eligible to compete in the South Asian meet here, an IAAF spokesman clarified from Monaco on Thursday. However, should CAS uphold the IAAF appeal, then the Sri Lankan, would forfeit her titles and prize money, if any, beginning from the date of the original infraction. The exact position regarding her eligibility to compete here was unknown to the Indian federation and the technical officials referred the matter to the IAAF only on Thursday afternoon.
