MUMBAI: Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) on Wednesday launched a strategic business unit focussed on meeting the technology needs of small and medium businesses (SMBs). The company will offer ‘IT-as-a-Service’ (ITaaS) in an innovative business model, giving SMBs the experience of customised low-cost solutions scalable to their growing business needs. According to a company statement, ITaaS, a subscription-driven model, that allows SMBs to scale as they grow and pay as they use. offers flexible pricing options to reduce capital expenditure, manage cash flows and maximise return on investment. This will help provide SMBs with opportunities for greater cost control. Two clients delay ramp up plans PTI reports: TCS Managing Director and CEO S. Ramadorai told reporters here that the SMB unit would start from April and the company has bagged ten clients. TCS was betting on SMBs because the next stage of growth would come from there in India, he added. “We want to give solutions that they need. SMBs are the most under-served segment. That is where the opportunity lies. And they don’t have to worry about the new technologies that keep coming into the market. We will take care of it,” TCS COO N. Chandrasekaran said.
