After Mumbai, gag order in Pune now

Pune/Mumbai: After Mumbai, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray, who indulged in an anti-North India campaign, was on Tuesday barred from public speeches in Pune even as more Bollywood actors came out in opposition to the gag order against him.

The Pune police restricted Mr. Thackeray from addressing public rallies till March 13 in the city.

Stays put

He reached Pune on Tuesday and stayed put in his residence there.

“Mr. Thackeray has received a notice at the Pune airport preventing him from holding a rally in Pune,” MNS spokesman Shirish Parkar said.

Actors Salman Khan, Sohail Khan and Sunil Shetty on Tuesday joined the growing list of Bollywood personalities in opposing the police ban on Mr. Thackeray.

In Mumbai, the police served a show cause notice to Mr. Thackeray asking why the gag order should not be extended. — PTI
