Differences crop up in TDB again
Special Correspondent
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The differences of opinion between the President and members of the Travancore Devaswom Board took a new turn on Tuesday with the two sides issuing separate orders revoking the suspension of staff. Board sources told The Hindu that president C.K. Guptan issued orders repealing the suspension of junior superintendent Shaji Sharma, accounts officer Jayakumar and assistant accounts officer Satish Kumar.
While the members, P. Narayanan and P.K. Sumathikutty Amma, stood in favour of suspending Mr. Sharma from service on the grounds that his name had figured in the Paripoornan Commission report, Mr. Guptan recorded his dissent.
Mr. Guptan suspended Mr. Jayakumar and Mr. Satish Kumar for failing to comply with his directive to pay the salary and other benefits to the Vigilance officer. The members too issued orders cancelling the suspension of Mr. Jayakumar and Mr. Satish Kumar issued by Mr. Guptan, saying he did not reserve the powers to issue orders on his own. Sources said that the powers for issuing orders vested with the secretary.
