Dr.N.T.MATHEW passed away peacefully in Vellore on 4th March, 2008, at the age of ninety three. He was the son of Mr.V.I.Thomas and Elizabeth Thomas and husband of late Mrs. Mary Mathew. Dr.Mathew who was a statistician and development planner, retire d in 1973 as the Director General of the Central Statistical Organisation of Government of India. He served as consultant to UNRISD and UNESCO and founded the Kerala Statistical Institute at Trivandrum. He is survived by his son Thomas Mathew and wife Pr ema, his daughters Deepa Thomas, her husband Thampy and Anna Tharyan, and her husband Prathap, and his grandchildren Suneil and Ahin Thomas, Priyanka and Divya Mathew, and Rohan Tharyan.
