Captain’s knock by Ratan

CHENNAI: An unbeaten 127 (163b, 14x4) by opener and skipper Ratan Kumar helped East Central script a seven-wicket win over North Eastern in the all-India Railway cricket tournament (mini league, Pool D’) here on Monday.

Earlier, Rakesh Chopra, GM, Southern Railway, inaugurated the tournament.

The scores:

North Eastern 242 in 49.2 overs (Amit Singh 46, Majid Hassan Khan 57) lost to East Central 243 for three in 47.2 overs (Ratan Kumar 127 not out, Vineet Singh 79).

DLW 231 for five in 50 overs (A. Varma 62, K. Khan 57, Tripathi 54 not out) lost to SRSA 234 for five in 46.4 overs (H. Khader Basha 69 not out, P. Hariraj 60 not out, T. Lakshmanamurthy 53).
