NEW DELHI: World champion Viswanathan Anand retained his overnight half-point lead after drawing with second-placed Norway’s Magnus Carlsen in the 10th round of the Linares-Morelia chess tournament at Linares, Spain, on Saturday. As a result of the 22-move draw in Sicilian Sveshnikov, Anand raised his tally to 6.5 points. Four more rounds remain. The 11th round will be played after Sunday’s rest day. The short draw set the tone for the other games of the day. The other three games also ended with honours even and left the standings unchanged. The results: 10th round: Viswanathan Aannd (6.5) drew with Magnus Carlsen (Nor, 6); Teimour Radjabov (Aze, 4.5) drew with Levon Aronian (Arm, 5.5). Alexei Shirov (Esp, 4.5) drew with Peter Leko (Hun, 3.5); Vassily Ivanchuk (Ukr, 4.5) drew with Veselin Topalov (Bul, 5). 11th round pairings: Radjabov-Anand; Aronian-Ivanchuk; Topalov-Shirov; Leko-Carlsen.
