Easy for SCR

HYDERABAD: South Central Railway (SCR) recorded a comfortable 4-0 win over DMRL in the V. Hanumantha Rao Super Cup prize money football tournament here on Friday.

Vijay’s fine solo effort in the 23rd minute put SCR ahead and within eight minutes winger Srinivas also found the target. Just before the break, a self-goal by Ravinder of DMRL gave SCR a convincing 3-0 lead.

In the second session, a 35-yard hit by Nidhi completed the tally for the Railwaymen.

SCR wins title

South Central Railway won the Hyderabad district basketball league championship for men defeating AOC Centre 69-47 in the final here. For the winner, Islauddin (10), Nihal Yadav (22) and Liju (18) were the main scorers.

Sanjay (12) and Tulsi (14) put up a good show for AOC Centre.

Saidabad FC wins

Saidabad FC defeated Golconda FC 3-2 in the CCOB Cup football tournament here on Friday. Winger Anwar struck in the 10th minute to give Saidabad a 1-0 lead at the break.

In the second session, Masab and Talha struck once each for Saidabad while for the loser Bashrath and Touseef scored a goal apiece to reduce the margin.

Volleyball trials

The Andhra Pradesh Volleyball Association will organise selection trials for men and women on March 5 to pick the State teams for the forthcoming South Zone national championship. For men, those who have not played in any senior nationals or international events only are eligible. However, there are no such restrictions for the women players. For details, contact APVA office at the Lal Bahadur stadium.

Cricket tournament

Teams from nine ports will participate in the 28th all-India major ports cricket championship from March 1 to 6. They have been divided into three pools.
