Tejaswini wins her sixth gold

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: M.B. Balakrishnan, V. Tejaswini and Amreen Malik became triple record holders on the third day of the all-India inter-University aquatics meet here on Wednesday.

The trio accounted for the three records that were set on the day and Tejaswini won her sixth gold medal.

Balakrishnan of Anna University hogged the limelight in the men’s section even as Rehan Poncha clinched his fifth gold medal.

Balakrishnan won the 50m backstroke with a record timing of 0:27.83s. Bangalore has taken an unassailable lead with 96 points followed by Calicut (50) and Andhra (35).

Sony Cyriac (KAU), (0:32.80: NMR; OR: 0:33.03, Sony Cyriac, KAU, 2006); 200m IM: 1. V. Tejaswini (Bangalore), 2. T. Shilpa Naidu (Andhra), 3.
