THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Two records were set on the second day of the all-India Inter-University aquatics meet at the Water Works swimming pool here on Tuesday. M.B. Balakrishnan of Anna University powered his way to his second record of the meet by winning the gold in 100m backstroke for men. Balakrishnan clocked 1:01.04 to erase Rehan Poncha’s record (1:02.24) set in 2006. Rehan picked up two gold medals but failed to set any records. Rehan won the 400m IM and 100m freestyle events. In the women’s section, Amreen Malik of Andhra University set a record in 200m backstroke. Amreen sunk Sumy Cyriac’s 2005 mark (2:36.19) by clocking 2:35.16. V. Tejaswini won a double on Tuesday to take her gold medal tally in to four. The results: Men: 100m freestyle: 1. Rehan Poncha (Bangalore), 2. Srinand Srinivas (Rajeev Gandhi), 3. Rehan Poncha (Bangalore), 2. Srinand Srinivas (Rajeev Gandhi), 3. V. Abhishek (Bangalore) 4:50.13; 4x100m medley relay: 1. Calicut, 2. Kerala, 3. Bangalore 5:10.41. Women: 100m freestyle: 1. V. Tejaswini (Bangalore), 2. Amreen Malik (Andhra), 3. Josna P. Joy (Calicut) 1:04.97; 200m backstroke: 1. Amreen Malik (Andhra), 2. V. Tejaswini (Bangalore), 3.
