‘Adequate number of judicial officers should be appointed’

NAMAKKAL: Madras High Court Justice M. Jaichandran inaugurated a sub-court at Tiruchengode town here on Saturday.

According to a press release, the Justice, in his speech, pointed out that the establishment of a sub-court in the town had fulfilled a long pending demand of people in this part of the district. People earlier had to travel to Namakkal to seek legal remedy for their problems.

The establishment of the sub-court would also facilitate the disposal of pending cases in the district quickly.

The Justice stressed that adequate number of judicial officers should be appointed for the speedy delivery of justice.

Law Minister Duraimurugan, presiding, said that the State Government had allotted Rs. 300 crore for creating infrastructures, including construction of buildings for the courts.

He also said that lawyers should maintain high standards of professional conduct and should not go in search for cases. Earlier, he unveiled the portrait of Tiruvalluvar.

Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment Subbulakshmi Jagadeesan unveiled the portrait of Mahatma Gandhi, the release said. Deputy Speaker of State Assembly V.P. Duraisamy, Collector G. Sundaramurthi, Principal District Judge A. Rathinavelu, Superintendent of Police John Nicholson and senior advocates spoke.
