Staff Reporter

CHENNAI: The ‘Clean Kilpauk Week’ campaign was inaugurated on Sunday morning at the Kelly’s Road junction, with a slew of activities including garbage clearance, road relaying and pavement repair scheduled for the coming week. Corporation officials, members of the Kilpauk Residents’ Welfare Association (KRWA) and residents participated.

Garbage was cleared from Kelly’s Road, Anusuya Avenue and Ormes Road on Sunday morning. “About six lorry loads of garbage and debris were removed,” said Prakash H. Lulla, patron, Kilpauk Residents’ Welfare Association.

Committee members of the Association would supervise various works with Corporation officials at different locations within Kilpauk between 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. every day till March 1.

A campaign is being carried out with pamphlets emphasising the importance of cleanliness and source segregation distributed for schools and commercial establishments in the area.
