Disappointing day for Indians

BANGALORE: Indian shuttlers had a disappointing day as both the men’s and women’s team bowed out of the Thomas and Uber Cup qualifiers in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam on Friday.

The results (quarterfinals): Thomas Cup: Malaysia bt India 3-0 (Lee Chong bt Anup Sridhar 21-15, 21-14; Choong Tan & Lee Wan bt Sanave Thomas & Rupesh Kumar 21-9, 21-10; Wong Choong bt Arvind Bhat 21-16, 18-21, 21-10).

Uber Cup: India lost to South Korea 1-3 (Saina Nehwal bt Jun Jae Youn 21-17, 21-12; Shruti Kurian & Aparna Balan lost to Lee Kyung & Lee Hyo 13-21, 9-21; Aditi Mutatkar lost to Hwang Hye 19-21, 5-21; Saina & Jwala Gutta lost to Ha Jung Eun & Kim Min 10-21, 20-22).
