Jawan injured in encounter

Jammu: An Army jawan was injured in an encounter in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir on Friday.

When some militants tried to infiltrate into this side of the LoC, troops challenged them, official sources said.

In the ensuing encounter, jawan Kulwant Singh was injured. However, the militants escaped from the scene. In the Keran sector in Kupwara district, the Army reportedly foiled an infiltration bid by two militants on Friday. According to defence sources, troops of the 12 Mahar noticed some suspicious movement near the LoC and followed them. When the militants opened fire, the retaliatory firing resulted in their deaths.— PTI
