Tax-free budget for Manipur

Imphal: Manipur Chief Minister Ibobi Singh presented tax-free budget estimates of Rs. 4,142.41 crore for 2008-09 and demands for supplementary grants for 2007-08 in the State Assembly on Wednesday.

Of the total estimates, Rs. 2,301.20 crore was fixed under non-plan, Rs. 1,660 crore under State plan and Rs. 181.21 crore under Centrally sponsored schemes, Central plan schemes and northeastern council schemes, said Mr. Singh, who holds the Finance portfolio. — PTI
