Udhayakumar, Mohan sparkle

Coimbatore: Udhayakumar (six for 39) and Mohan Kumar (119 not out) played stellar roles in Tirupur Cricket Club’s four-wicket win over Rainbow Cricket Club in the Canara Bank-CDCA first division league for the Pricol Trophy at the TNAU grounds on Sunday.

The scores: First division: Rainbow CC 230 in 49 overs (Udhayakumar six for 39) lost to Tirupur CC 233 for six in 40.3 overs (Mohan Kumar 119 not out). Second division: Wings CC 146 in 39.2 overs (Gopinath 41, Ravichandran four for 9) lost to PSG Tech 147 for three in 27.2 overs (Ravichandran 40, Manikandan 55 not out).

Third division: R.S. Puram CC 266 for seven in 49 overs (Muthukumar 83 not out) bt Rainbow Wizard CC 243 in 44.2 overs (Mohammed Yaseen 108).

Arumugam XI prevails

Arumugam XI Patriots Cricket Club scored a three-wicket win over Cosmo Village Sports and clinched the second division title in the CDCA-Sri Ramakrishna Mills Trophy knockout prize money cricket tournament on Sunday.

The scores: Second division: Final: Cosmo Village SA 98 in 25.4 overs lost to Arumugam XI Patriots CC 100 for seven in 19.3 overs.

Nehru Vidyalaya wins

Nehru Vidyalaya posted a 73-run win over Park MHSS in the CDCA under-13 inter-school cricket tournament for the Rotary Club of Coimbatore Metropolis Trophy at the Forest College grounds on Sunday.

The scores: Nehru Vidyalaya 124 for six in 20 overs (Nishanth 50 not out) bt Park MHSS (Tirupur) 51 in 15.2 overs (Rishab Bafna four for 7).

Easy for Jeppiar

Jeppiar College (Chennai) thrashed Madras Christian College (Chennai) 66-28 in a round robin league match of the third Tamil Nadu inter-collegiate basketball tournament at the Holy Cross MHSS courts in Salem on Sunday.

The results:

Jeppiar (Chn) 66 (U. Arun Chandra Dass 23, S. Balamurugan 13) bt MCC (Chn) 28 (D. Puviarasan 12). SRM (Chn) 51 (Sathish 10, Daniel D. Essar 10) bt Sethu Tech (Mdu) 34 (M. Madhan 12).

Coimbatore triumphs

Host Coimbatore defeated Thiruvallur by six wickets and emerged champion of the TNCA under-17 inter-district cricket tournament at the CIT inner grounds here on Sunday.

The scores:

Thiruvallur 172 & 213 in 50 overs (A. Srinivasan 97, Karthik Aditya 53, R. Arun Balaji four for 45, G. Sri Vardhan three for 41) lost to Coimbatore 239 & 150 for four in 60.4 overs (Dheer Bhimani 41, R. Arun Balaji 55 not out).
