Now book LPG through Internet, SMS and voice response system

Special Correspondent

Service launched in Delhi; to be extended to other parts of the country in phases

Bharat Gas and HP to follow suit

Complaints can be lodged through Internet

NEW DELHI: In an attempt to eliminate middlemen and make the booking system customer-friendly, Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) on Monday announced the launch of booking for Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) through internet, SMS and Interactive Voice Response System (IVRS).

The service was initially launched in Delhi. It would be extended to other parts of the country in phases. It is understood that even Bharat Gas and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited will follow suit soon.

IOC officials said this was yet another step by the company to make refill booking a pleasant experience and putting the onus of delivery on the dealer.

General Manager of IOC (Delhi), S.S. Bapat also launched the Surakha apron, which is made of fire retardant material. It would be available at all the distributor showrooms.

Mr. Bapat said booking through Internet, SMS and IVRS was available to all the 192 distributors in Delhi. This would enable all Indane customers in the city to book their refills on a 24x7 basis in addition to the normal telephone booking.

For booking through SMS, one has to type ‘IOC,’ the phone number of the distributor with STD code and the consumer number and then send it to the respective service provider.

The numbers are: 56789 for Vodafone, 56465 for Airtel and 52626 for other operators.

In the case of IVRS, one has to dial the IVRS number as per the service provider and follow the instructions (1260 from MTNL, 011-2561-1260 or 011-2561-1031 from any other landline and mobile).

For Internet booking, log on to: http://www.tomogas.com/iocl and follow the steps.

Complaints could also be lodged about leakages or other issues through this system.
