Akshath to witness under-19 cricket World Cup

HYDERABAD: Hyderabad under-17 cricketer P. Akshath Reddy has been selected to go to Malaysia during the ICC under-19 World Cup in Kuala Lumpur to give him exposure and a feel of the international competition, according to N. Shivlal Yadav, HCA secretary.

The decision comes in the wake of impressive performances with the bat by the Hyderabad youngster in the recent all-India Vijay Merchant Trophy championship.

Football tournament

Sai Krupa Sports Foundation will organise V. Hanumantha Rao Super Cup prize money football tournament from February 18 to March 13 at Gymkhana Grounds, according to M. Uday Raj, general secretary of the Foundation. The event carries a prize money of Rs. 15,000 for the winner and Rs. 10,000 for the runner-up.

There will be Man of the Match awards for all the matches.

The teams which have confirmed participation included BDL, SBH, SCR, SBI, DMRL, EME Centre, Hyderabad Globe, Shastri Club and Tarnaka Football Club.

Easy for HDFC

HDFC recorded a seven-wicket win over Satyam BPO in the Polycom Crickfest at Neeraj Grounds here.

The scores: Citi Bank 122 (Manan 74, Rizwan four for 10) bt Focus Aegis 120 for nine; Satyam BPO 165 (Prashant 59) lost to HDFC 169 for three (Shiva 48, Dharam 55).
