LONDON: Darren Fletcher scored twice and Manchester United easily advanced to the FA Cup quarterfinals with a 4-0 victory over Arsenal on Saturday. United took an early lead , with Wayne Rooney scoring in the 16th minute and Darren Fletcher doubling the advantage within five minutes. Facing little resistance from the Gunners, Nani fired in a third goal in the 38th. There was no way back for Arsenal after Emmanuel Eboue was sent off four minutes into the second half. A trio of changes made no impact and Fletcher headed in his second goal for the sprightly 11-time cup champion in the 74th. Liverpool outMeanwhile, Liverpool was knocked out of the FA Cup in stunning fashion when a last-minute goal by captain Brian Howard gave Championship (second division) team Barnsley a 2-1 victory at Anfield. Liverpool led through Dirk Kuyt but a Stephen Foster equaliser and brilliant goalkeeping by debutant Luke Steele kept Barnsley in the game before Howard drove in the winner. Frank Lampard scored twice as holder Chelsea progressed with a 3-1 home win over League One (third division) Huddersfield Town. The results: Bristol Rovers bt Southampton 1-0, West Bromwich Albion bt Coventry City 5-0, Cardiff City bt Wolverhampton Wanderers 2-0, Chelsea bt Huddersfield 3-1, Liverpool lost to Barnsley 1-2, Manchester United bt Arsenal 4-0. — Agencies
