Job fair draws crowd

TIRUPUR: More than 1,000 candidates, mostly final-year students from arts and science stream of various colleges here, thronged the job fair organised by Tiruppur Kumaran College for Women, here on Sunday.
Industries ranging from automobiles to Information Technology/BPO to banking and insurance conducted interviews. According to organisers, a sizable number of experienced candidates too have attended the interview. Employers from Coimbatore and other cities, garment and allied units here participated in the recruitment drive.
C. Sajeeve Chandran, HR executive of the Hyderabad-based Country Club, said the candidates showed keen interest in taking up jobs offered to them.
“The fair had a very good response. Majority of the candidates have acquired skills to employment and willing to take up any task.”
The leisure infrastructure company, which is going to open its club in Coimbatore soon, has recruited 10 candidates in the first phase. Mr. Chandran said another set of 25 candidates would be recruited in the next couple of months, with a minimum salary of Rs. 5,000. Organisers said that even candidates from Udumalpet, Pollachi, Gobichettipalayam, Andhiyur, Nambiyur, and Erode attended the interviews.
