Malleswaram Gymkhana takes the honours

Bangalore: Malleswaram Gymkhana won the N. Balaji Memorial MTR Nivarana Basavanagudi Cup State-level cricket tournament here on Sunday.

In the final, Malleshwaram Gymkhana defeated Jayanagar Colts by five wickets. Jayanagar Colts scored 145 in 28 overs and Malleshwaram Gymkhana, powered by Rajshekar Shanbal’s 71, won in 29.1 overs.

Meanwhile the tournament’s All-India invitation edition commenced here on Sunday.

The scores:

Final (State-level tournament): Jayanagar Colts 145 in 28 overs (V. Bharath 45) lost to Malleshwaram Gymkhana 146 for five in 29.1 overs (Rajshekar Shanbal 71).

All-India invitation tournament: RWF 238 for five in 30 overs (M. Mukesh 63, S.R. Deepu 49, Yogesh 47) bt Combined Tumkur XI 209 for seven in 30 overs (Roshan Chandra 66, Gurumurthy 52, H.J. Girish 48).

Nasik CA 237 for four in 30 overs (Srirang Kapse 76, Nithin Dhatrak 74) bt Venus CC 126 in 28 overs (Vaibhav Kendle four for 27).

Harikrishna has a ball

Harikrishna Kumar’s superb spell of eight for 28, which included a hat-trick, helped National Cricket Club register a 153-run win over Mysore University Colleges Sports Council (MUCSC) in the KSCA Mysore Zone first division league at PET (Mandya) on Sunday.

The scores: First division: National Cricket Club 216 for eight in 50 overs (Deepak Gowda 50, Renu Kumar 40, H.R. Cheluvaraj five for 75) bt MUCSC 63 in 21.4 overs (Harikrishna Kumar eight for 24).

FUCC 289 for nine in 50 overs (Ashwin 91, Shashidhar 43, Ramesh 40, Chavan Bhardwaj four for 47) bt YMCC 140 in 34.1 overs (Dheemanth 44, Chandrashekar four for 20).

Second division: Mohan’s XI 278 for nine in 50 overs (inclusive of 10 penalty runs for one over short) (Karthik 68, Prasad 42, M.N. Deepak four for 73) bt Mysore City Gymkhana 102 in 26.5 overs.

Vidyaranya CC 203 for seven in 48.5 overs (Pawan Kumar 135, J. Anil Kumar 41) bt Star CC (C’rajanagar) 133 in 33.4 overs (K.H. Manoj five for 70).

Shreyas sizzles

Shreyas Murdeshwar’s 121 helped KE Board HS score 289 against Basel Mission English Medium HS in the second semifinal of the KSCA’s Dharwad Zone under-15 inter-school cricket tournament in Hubli on Sunday.

The scores: KE Board 289 (Shreyas Murdeshwar 121, H. Shashank 32, A. Anup five for 85, K. Pratik four for 55) vs BMEM 94 for two in 32 overs (C.H. Tejashwar 37 batting, Pratik Kulkarni 34 batting).
