Fervour marks float festival at Srirangam

ATTRACTIVE: The float festival in progress at Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple in Srirangam on Saturday.

TIRUCHI: A large number of devotees witnessed the float festival at Srirangam Sri Ranganathaswamy temple on Saturday night held as part of the ‘Tiruppalli Oda Tirunal’ festival, currently on now.

Amidst religious fervour, the idols of Namperumal and Sri Ubaya Nachiar were taken to the float where special pujas were performed.

The idols were earlier brought from the sanctum sanctorum to the Theppakula Asthana Mandapam in the afternoon and were taken to the float in the evening. Namperumal and Sri Ubaya Nachiars were taken thrice by the float around the ‘Maiya mandapam.’ The 10 ten-day festival concludes on Sunday.
