Master plan needed to tackle water woes: DC

Chitradurga: Deputy Commissioner Amlan Aditya Biswas has instructed officials of Panchayati Raj Engineering Department to prepare a master plan to tackle the drinking water problem during summer.

Chairing a public grievances meeting here on Saturday, he asked officials to constitute a committee, comprising engineers and geologists, that would tour the district and collect details on water requirement, based on which a plan could be made.

On a complaint that the drinking water crisis in Holalkere taluk had not yet been resolved, Mr. Biswas directed the officials to act immediately, as funds had already been sanctioned by the district administration.With regard to building a road at JCR Circle and Jogimatti area, Mr. Biswas sought to know from officials of the Public Works Department why work had not begun despite release of funds.

To this, a junior official, representing the executive engineer, could not respond satisfactorily. Taking note of the engineer’s absence without notice, the Deputy Commissioner said a show-cause-notice would be issued to him.

In response to complaints that no gynaecologist was available at the Molakalmur Government Hospital, Mr. Biswas asked the district surgeon to depute a specialist from the district hospital to Molakalmur.

He also instructed the Municipal Commissioner to shut down all unauthorised abattoirs, within a week.

On appointment of anganwadi workers, Mr. Biswas directed the officials of the Women and Child Welfare Department to publish a list of workers recruited. “All appointments should be on merit,” he said. Chief Executive Officer of the zilla panchayat H.P. Prakash and Superintendent of Police Labhu Ram were present.
