Petrol price hike draws flak

Staff Reporter

HYDERABAD: The Central Government’s decision to hike prices of petrol and diesel has evoked sharp criticism from different political parties on Friday.

Activists of Greater Hyderabad Council of Communist Party of India took out a procession from Himayatnagar to Narayanaguda flyover protesting the Centre’s move and burnt the effigy of Union Petroleum Minister Murli Deora. The Left parties would launch agitation if the Government failed to roll back the prices immediately, Rajya Sabha member Aziz Pasha said. The city unit of Bharatiya Janata Party, as a mark of protest, burnt the effigy of UPA Government at RTC crossroads.

Auto drivers also found fault with the Government. A meeting is being convened at AITUC office in Himayatnagar on Saturday to discuss the future course of action.
