Will perform “Chhath Puja” in Mumbai: Lalu

Ranchi: “If possible, I will go to Mumbai to perform Chhath Puja,” Railway Minister Lalu Prasad said on Thursday.

Mr. Prasad, who was here to address the ‘Chetna’ rally organised by the Rashtriya Janata Dal, made the comment when he was asked about the alleged anti-north India statements by leaders of the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS).

Condemning the provocative and ‘unconstitutional’ statements of MNS leader Raj Thackeray and Shiv Sena leader Uddhav Thackeray, Mr. Prasad said the people of Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Jharkhand staying in Mumbai were afraid of venturing out of their homes.

There were also reports of people misbehaving with a woman on a train, he said. The Mumbai Police Commissioner had spoken to him.

Mr. Prasad said he had spoken to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Congress president Sonia Gandhi on the issue.

“A vase does not look beautiful with one rose. It requires a bunch of different flowers. The country is just like a vase,” he said. — PTI
