Raju bags title

BANGALORE: Veteran M. Raju of Income Tax bagged the title in the Rajanna memorial chess championship conducted by C.V. Raman Chess Club with a hard fought win over Gavi Siddaya in the sixth and final round here.

Raju topped the table along with Sriram Sarja, Petros Valden and Sushrutha Reddy with all the four players having five points apiece. Raju, however, was adjudged the winner on the basis of his better progressive score while Sriram, Petros and Sushrutha took the second, third and fourth spots respectively.

Chess tournament

Prakrit Kidzone, in association with the United Karnataka Chess Association will conduct an inter-school tournament on February16 at Chairman’s Club, Sahakaranagar here. Entries close on Thursday. Details may be had from the organisers, Prakrit Kidzone, 92-Defence Colony, Sahakaranagar, Bangalore-560092.
