Darwin’s legacy

The editorial “Darwin’s legacy” (Feb. 12) is a fitting tribute to Charles Darwin, a gentle genius ahead of his time, a reluctant visionary set apart from contemporary ideas about biological transformation. Darwin’s massive achievements should not be restricted to his early scientific works.

His keen observation, curiosity and vigour allowed him to make strikingly prescient contributions to ecology, botany and a dozen of other distinct disciplines.

T. Marx,

Karaikal

Even 150 years after the publication of Darwin’s theory of evolution, the theory of Creation is still alive and well. Not only have the supporters of Intelligent Design but also many mainstream evolutionists have confirmed the lapses in Darwin’s theory.

Even neo-Darwinism is losing its support base in the light of new fossil evidences and developing genetics which dump the idea of ‘chance events’ in the process of evolution.

Yasir Malik,

New Delhi
