HYDERABAD: A nursery student got crushed to death under the wheels of his school bus on the school premises at Hydernagar in Kukatpally on Monday morning. Principal Shekhar and the mini-bus driver Sunil were arrested on the charges of negligence, the police said. Three-year-old V. Danush, a resident of Nizampet, was standing behind the bus after alighting at the playground of his King’s School along with his sister. The accident occurred when the driver tried to reverse the bus without noticing the boy. The boy came under rear wheels of the bus and suffered grievous head injuries. He was rushed to a nearby hospital where doctors declared him dead. His father Kumar is a small-time businessman. According to rules, school managements have to recruit cleaners to assist drivers. The rules were framed after a kindergarten student Rithika was crushed to death by a speeding DCM van in front of her St. Ann’s High School in Secunderabad on August 11, 2005. But the King’s School management failed to appoint a cleaner and violated the rules prompting the police to register a case of negligence under section 304-A of Indian Penal Code against the school management The boy’s body was handed over to his relatives after conducting an autopsy at the Gandhi hospital mortuary.
