I learnt the game at Royal: Chowrasia

KOLKATA: Indian Masters champion S.S.P. Chowrasia is not resting on the laurels he won on Sunday. Back in his hometown, the caddie-turned professional golfer has firmly set his eyes on the European Tour.

Speaking to the media during a felicitation programme organised by the Royal Calcutta Golf Club on Monday, he thanked the club for supporting him all the way. “I learnt the game at the Royal. I began to play golf when I was 12 or 13,” said the son of a green-keeper. Chowrasia’s stint as a caddie also came in handy while honing his skill. About the future, Chowrasia said he would need a minimum of $50,000 to play on the European Tour for which he got sanctions till 2010. — Special Correspondent
