CHENNAI: The Board of Apprenticeship Training, southern region, has appealed to industries to pay the revised rate of monthly stipend and requested principals of engineering colleges, polytechnic colleges and headmasters of higher secondary (vocational) schools to disseminate the revised pay information to all students of the 2008 batch who had passed out. The Board is an autonomous body under the Union Ministry of Human Resource Development Department of Higher Education. A release by the Director of the Board of Apprenticeship Training mentioned the enhanced rates of monthly stipend: engineering graduate apprentice (Rs.2,600); technician (Diploma holder in Engineering apprentice – Rs.1,850); technician (vocational – Plus Two certificate holder – Rs.1,440); sandwich course (students of engineering degree institutions – Rs.1,850) and sandwich course (students of engineering and diploma institutions-Rs.1,510). The revised pay rates came into effect on January 8.
