Panel formed

CHENNAI: The State Government has constituted a seven-member Infrastructure and Amenities Promotion Committee for implementing infrastructure and amenities projects.

The Housing and Urban Development Secretary will be the chairman of the committee and the Director of Town and Country Planning, member secretary. Secretaries of Finance, Planning, Development and Special Initiative, Rural Development and Panchayat Raj, Municipal Administration and Water Supply and Vice-Chairman of the Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority are the members. According to a Gazette notification, the committee will be entrusted with selection of schemes, funding pattern and other related matters. It will also monitor implementation of the scheme and order release of funds as and when it deems necessary. — Special Correspondent
